The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) hereby notifies the Ghanaian Export Community of the New EU requirements affecting certain foods and feed of non-animal origin.
Implementation of Regulation (EU) 2019/1793 for the entry into the European Union of certain foods and feed of non-animal origin took effect from October 2022. This has resulted in the temporary increase of the official controls and emergency measures governing the entry of the affected products into the EU from certain third countries of which Ghana is included.
Consignments of affected food and feed of non-animal origin shall only enter into the European Union in accordance with the conditions laid down in the Regulation (EU) 2019/1793.
AFFECTED FOODS ACCOMPANYING ANALYSIS
In addition to the analyses stated, below export documents are mandatory.
All Exporters of the above listed products are therefore required to comply with the New EU requirements for every export consignment to the EU by subjecting each export through the FDA export requirements for the appropriate certifications to avert rejection at the destination Country.
The FDA exist to ensure the safety, quality and efficacy of human and veterinary drugs, food, biological products, cosmetics, medical devices, household chemical substances and clinical trials, and the control of tobacco products through the enforcement of relevant standards to protect public health.
