The Chief Executive takes executive responsibility for operational management, service delivery and strategic issues of the FDA Ghana.

The office of the Chief Executive consists of the Internal Audit, Human Resource, Communications and Public Education, Project, Research and Management Information Systems, Finance, Administration, Import and Export Control, Laboratory Services Departments and Regional Offices.

Under the Chief Executive are five Specialised Divisions, namely; Food Division, Drug Registration and Inspectorate Division, Safety Monitoring and Clinical Trials Division, Cosmetics, Medical Devices and Household Chemicals Division, and Monitoring and Evaluation Division.


The FDA exists to protect public health by assuring the safety, efficacy and security of human and veterinary drugs, food, biological products, cosmetics, medical devices, household chemical substances, tobacco and the conduct of clinical trials in the country.
