The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), in partnership with UNICEF Ghana, has hosted a stakeholder sensitisation workshop on the pilot rollout of Ghana’s Traceability and Verification System — known as TRVST — bringing together key health sector institutions to align on implementation and chart a clear path forward.

What Is TRVST?

TRVST is a national traceability and verification system designed to strengthen product security, enhance supply chain visibility, and support the safe distribution of medical products across Ghana. Its rollout represents a significant step forward in pharmaceutical regulation and the broader national effort to eliminate substandard and falsified medical products from Ghana’s health system.

What the Workshop Covered

The sensitisation workshop provided a platform for participating institutions to explore the TRVST implementation roadmap, review operational guidance, and understand how the system will work in practice. By bringing together stakeholders from across the health sector, the workshop ensured that those responsible for implementation are informed, aligned, and prepared for the rollout ahead.

Why It Matters

Substandard and falsified medical products remain a serious public health threat — one that undermines treatment outcomes, erodes patient trust, and places lives at risk. TRVST directly addresses this challenge by introducing a robust digital framework for tracking and verifying medical products from manufacturer to patient. This initiative positions Ghana at the forefront of pharmaceutical supply chain integrity in the region.
