  • FDA ASHANTI REGION OFFICE CELEBRATES CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK.

The Ashanti Regional Head of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mrs. Nora Narkie Terlabie has called on all within the Ashanti Region to visit the outfit any time they want to either import or produce products regulated by the Authority.

As part of the celebration that was held from the 6th to 9th of October 2020, the Regional Head, Mrs. Terlabie joined the client service team to attend to clients. She had interactions with some clients concerning the FDA's appreciation for their cooperation. She further assured the clients that the FDA would continuously improve upon the delivery of its services to respond to their demands.

Addressing the media, Mrs. Terlabie noted that the office exists not only to regulate Food, Drugs, Herbal and Homeopathic Medicines, Veterinary Medicines, Cosmetics, Medical Devices, Household Chemical Substances, Tobacco and Tobacco Products, Blood and Blood Products as well as the conduct of Clinical Trials but also to serve as an advisory body to those who aspire to either sell or produce any FDA regulated products.

The Regional Head said many more people needed to be aware that they could approach the FDA in connection with any help they required regarding products regulated by the FDA. She emphasized that the doors of the FDA were open to all.

Mrs. Terlabie noted that the Authority faces some challenges including unapproved advertisements of products on both traditional and new media. Many claims of the potency of some drugs and products, which have not been proven are aired daily on the traditional media especially on some radio stations.

However, she appealed to media houses and social media influencers within the region to demand FDA certification from clients who intend to advertise through their medium, she said this would contribute to a reduced patronage of unapproved products.

Mrs. Terlabie cautioned the public to take interest in products they consume. She added that when the public is aware of the conditions of an approved product, it would enable the easy identification of unapproved and suspicious products.

She encouraged the public to make reports, complaints or suggestions on the quality of service rendered and of non-conforming and unwholesome products they find on the market to the FDA through any of the Authority's official social media platform, website, hotlines or suggestion boxes. She added that such information helps the FDA in ridding the market of fake and unwholesome products and improve upon its service.
