Technical Operations
The Technical Operations Division (TOD) is one of the four (4) administrative Divisions of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
TOD provides Strategic Direction, Technical and Operational Support for the achievement of the mandate of the Authority.
The Division has oversight responsibilities of four (4) Directorates under its jurisdiction, viz,
- Industrial Support Services Directorate (ISSD)
- Inspectorate Directorate (ID)
- Enforcement Directorate (ED)
- Regional Operations Directorate (ROD)
Industrial Support Services Directorate (ISSD) provides Capacity Strengthening and Technical services to industry to help them respond positively to regulatory requirements. This fits into the national industrialization agenda of government in terms of regulatory support for job creation and market access.
Inspectorate Directorate (ID) is responsible for inspection activities for manufacturing and storage operations with regards to FDA regulated products. The objective is to ensure practices conform to industry and national as well as international best practices and as a guarantee for the production of safe, quality and efficacious regulated products.
Enforcement Directorate (ED) serves as the intelligence and enforcement arm of the FDA, ensuring the Ghanaian market is free from falsified and spurious regulated products. The Directorate also conducts investigations into consumer complaints and also regulates the media space for unapproved advertisements of regulated products.
Regional Operations Directorate (ROD) has oversight responsibilities over regulatory operations of all FDA’s regional offices apart from the Head Office in Accra. The Directorate also liaises with the Corporate Services Division through its departments in the regions to ensure regulatory operations receive the needed administrative support and services.
