PUBLIC NOTICE - QUALITY OF PRODUCTS USED IN PREVENTION OF THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) IN GHANA

Reference to the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851) establishing the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in Ghana and the directive from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana on measures to prevent Coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission the Authority hereby brings to the notice of the general public as follows: Manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers of products used in the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) are cautioned against taking advantage of the prevailing situation and offering for sale substandard products (hand sanitizers, face masks and other products used in the prevention).

The general public must ensure that all hand sanitizers purchased are duly registered by the FDA and have not expired. The FDA is also facilitating the registration of more hand sanitizers with a fast track process, to mitigate the shortage on the market.

NOTE: The list of approved hand sanitizers has been uploaded on our website and our social media handles.

The list will periodically be updated as and when more hand sanitizers are registered. In order to safeguard utmost protection of the general public, the Authority has increased its market surveillance countrywide to ensure compliance.
