FDA AWARDED FOR ITS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY

It was a night of glitz and glam as prominent players in Ghana's Healthcare delivery gathered at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra on Friday 5th November, 2021 for the 3rd edition of the Ghana-West Africa Healthcare Excellence Awards night.

The glamorous event which is endorsed by the West Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry provided a platform to recognize individuals and firms that have played significant roles in the development and the promotion of industry standards within the healthcare sector in the sub-region.

The award categories included Outstanding Clinical Services, Hospital Equipment Marketing, Laboratory Services Provider, Pharma Formulation Company and the COVID-19 HERO award for Healthcare Corporate Social Responsibility.

In recognition of FDA's achievements over the years as far as its regulation of Food and Drugs in the country is concerned, the Authority received an award for its "Outstanding Contributions to the Healthcare industry in Ghana" and its bold initiatives towards the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The regional awards for excellence in healthcare gave due recognition to FDA's work in safeguarding public health and safety and its prime role in the recently inaugurated Presidential Vaccine Manufacturing Committee which seeks to establish a National Vaccine Institute and make Ghana a West Africa hub for local production of vaccines.

Receiving the award, credit was given to the Governing Board and Chief Executive of the FDA as well as staff of the FDA for their dedication and commitment to duty that has won the admiration of all.

Other recipients of the awards included the Center for Plant Medicines Research, M&G Pharmaceutical Company and the MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana Ltd.
