The Public Affairs Department of the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday 18th June, 2019 paid a working visit to the Food and Drugs Authority’s (FDA) headquarters in Accra.

Led by the Public Affairs head of the Greater Accra Police Command DSP Afia Tenge, the visit according to her was to familiarize themselves with the work of the FDA. “Even though we collaborate on some of the works that you do, this visit is to get closer to the FDA to familiarize ourselves with what you do” DSP Afia Tenge said.

Welcoming the Police Officers to the FDA, the CEO of FDA Mrs. Delese A. A. Darko assured the Police of the FDA’s readiness to collaborate with them to ensure the protection of the public health safety. Overwhelmed by the scope of work of the FDA, DSP Tenge assured the FDA that she would facilitate a meeting for the Authority to educate the wider Police populace about what FDA does. “We will have to invite the FDA to the station to speak to the Police personnel about what you do” DSP Tenge said.

After receiving a copy of the Public Health Act, DSP Tenge and her team visited the laboratories and other departments of the FDA and interacted with staffe as well.

“Anytime you want us to also educate you about any area of our work and how we could be of help, we are also available” DSP Tenge assured.
