FDA’S GOVERNING BOARD AND MANAGEMENT TOUR NEW FDA OFFICE COMPLEX

The Governing Board and Management of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) on Thursday, October 25, 2017, paid a working visit to the FDA’s new ultra-modern office complex building project under construction in Tema.

The seven storey new office complex, which is strategically sited close to the Tema Harbor and behind the Meridian Hotel, has two basement level underground car parks. The building when completed is expected to supplement the office space at the Head Office at Shiashie and also to enhance the operational activities of the FDA in the Greater Accra Region, especially within the Accra-Tema Metropolis.

Briefing the Members of the Board and Management after touring of the new building project, the contractor revealed that the project is 72% complete and expected to be completed by the end of 2017 should the needed funding be readily available.

The contractor further indicated that the ground floor of the building have been constructed in a manner that could allow different institutions to use in case the FDA decides to rent out parts of the building. The other floors have also been built in a way that could allow for easy conversion into other suitable uses and an open top floor on the 8th floor that could also be used for social gatherings.

Dr. Sammy Ohene, the Chairman of the FDA’s Governing Board, thanked the contractor for his co-oporation and commitment towards the completion of the project and assured him of the Authority’s willingness to make fund available for the successful completion of the project.

Mrs. Delese Mimi Darko, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the FDA on behalf of Management also thanked the Board and contractor for their support towards the successful completion of the ultra-modern office complex reiterated the Board Chairman’s willingness to ensuring that funds are made available for the project
