The Human Resource directorate is dedicated to cultivating a workplace of integrity, accountability and teamwork through continuous learning, collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation. The Directorate, supported by its two departments, works tirelessly to ensure that the wellbeing of staff is of the outmost priority. The Staff welfare and compensation department (SWCD) and the Career Development Department (CDD) carry out the mandate of the Directorate stipulated in part 7 of the Public Health Act, 2012; Act 851 and the Labour Act 2003, Act 651.
This mandate gives the Directorate the right to appoint staff and manage the Human Resources of the Food and Drugs Authority. In service to our core mandate our two Departments carry out the tasks stated below.
- Career Development Department: The Career Development Department plays a vital role in the professional development and career aspirations of staff in the Authority. The Department strives to give the Authority’s employees the necessary professional development options including educational pathways (Study leave and Sponsorship), building competencies for work through training and preparing employees for a fulfilling career.
Some of its core activities include:
- Training and Development (Capacity Building of Staff)
- Internships and National Service Coordination
- Providing further studies and sponsorship for staff
- Stakeholder Engagements
- Staff Welfare and Compensation Department: The Staff Welfare and Compensation Department is responsible for creating welfare and wellness programs aimed at improving staff commitment and engagement in the Authority.

- Compensation and Payroll Management
- Employee Engagement and Welfare
- Staff Rationalization
- Staff Leave Management
