- About Dr Michael Kudebong
Michael Kudebong is a seasoned legal and pharmaceutical professional with over two decades of experience in pharmaceutical regulation, policy development, and strategic leadership. He currently serves as the Acting Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Ghana, where he leads national regulatory initiatives and oversees licensing, compliance, and practitioner standards across the pharmaceutical sector.
Michael has previously served as Acting Head of Legal at the Pharmacy Council, where he provided expert legal guidance, directed stakeholder engagements, and supported policy formulation. For nearly 18 years, he was Regional Manager of the Pharmacy Council, supervising regulatory enforcement, professional registration, and service quality across regions. His early career includes roles as a Medical Representative at Kinapharma Pharmaceuticals and Manager/Locum Pharmacist at St. Damien Pharmacy.
Michael holds advanced degrees in both International Law (University of Ghana) and Intellectual Property Law (University of Aberdeen), alongside a Master of Public Health, Bachelor of Pharmacy, LLB, and a Qualifying Certificate in Law. He has received further specialized training in pharmaceutical policy, pharmacoepidemiology, and innovation regulation from universities in the Netherlands and Germany.
He has a strong professional interest in the intersection of international trade and public health, particularly the impact of the WTO’s TRIPS Agreement on access to essential medicines and the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Michael brings to the Board of the Food and Drugs Authority a unique combination of legal expertise, regulatory experience, and public health insight—strengthening the Authority’s mandate to protect public health and ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of medical products in Ghana.
