Food Service Establishments Guidelines and Forms

The Food Service Establishments Department provides the following services to clients and the public:

  • – Conducts facility inspections to ensure compliance with Good Hygienic Practices (GHP) and issues Food Hygiene Permits to compliant facilities.
  • – Sensitizes and inspects street food vendors, registering and providing compliant vendors with Street Food Vendor Permits. This is done in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization & Rural Development.
  • – Investigates food safety complaints from consumers who have patronized various establishments, such as hotels, restaurants, and street food vendors.

Our services cover a range of establishments, including canteens, restaurants, hotels, bakeries, snack bars, mobile food vans, street food vendors, institutional caterers, contract caterers and other food service establishments.

The Department incorporates a value-added feature of a risk-based assessment where facilities demonstrating high food safety standards are eligible for a two-year hygiene permit which exempts them from annual food safety inspections.
