RIGHT TO INFORMATION
INTRODUCTION
The 1992 Constitution, Article 21 (f) grants every Ghanaian the right to information regarding public sector affairs and governance in general. It is against this backdrop that Parliament passed the Right to Information (RTI) ACT, 2019 (Act 989) which the President assented to on the 21st May, 2019.
The RTI Act, 2019 (Act 989) promotes transparency and accountability by empowering individuals to access information from central and local government bodies, as well as publicly funded non-governmental organizations. In compliance with this law, a Right to Information Office, located within the Communications and Public Education Department of the Food and Drugs Authority, is operational.
The Food and Drugs Authority, still encourages the general public to adhere to all COVID-19 protocols, in line with this we advise applicants seeking information under this law to fill and complete the RTI Form found in the manual below and submit their requests via email to rti@fda.gov.gh or in-person at the front desk of the Food and Drugs Authority.
